
It's official. Ethan Hass has nothing to do with JJ Abrams '1-18-08' project. It's actually a video game called ALPHA OMEGA by Mindstorm Labs who are marketing their product to tie into the buzz on Abrams viral marketing.
The game itself is something completely different and you can either say they are smart for riding the Abrams bandwagon or creating enemies for exploiting people. Regardless, if they didn't want to use someone else's momentum they had plenty of opportunities to distinguish themselves.
Funny for all those websites that popped up in conjunction with the '1-18-08' project that tried to tie themselves into the Ethan Hass momentum. However, we do know that the Slusho site is legit and tied to the movie. [ ...more ]
To be even clearer, AICN did no reporting on this angle whatsoever. They simply noticed that many of us out here had been doing a lot of work to establish this link, and decided to just flatly state the connection to make it seem like they thought of it.
ReplyDeleteAnd MSL didn't jump on the Cloverfield bandwagon. In early July, someone posted EHWR-related videos to YouTube and, thinking they were Cloverfield-related tagged them "Cloverfield". So when YouTube yanked the Cloverfield trailer at the behest of Paramount, the EHWR videeos got caught up in that purge by mistake.
