Cloverfield Monster Roar Added to 1-18-08 Website

A minor addition to the site today includes a hidden sound file of the Cloverfield Monster giving us a roar. After going to the 1-18-08 site you'll see everything is the same. However, if you leave the window open and leave it alone the monster sound will play.

To me that sounds like Godzilla. The marks in the Statue of Liberty are the one of a creature that looks like a T-Rex or Raptor. Godzilla is the one that looks like that.
I've noticed you can turn over pictures on the 1-18-08 site. I don't know if anyone noticed this earlier. Just move away all pictures except the one you want to turn over and try to move it from left to right. there are two pictures with notes:

That's a great monster sound.It's got the "hollowness" of the Godzilla roar with a vaguely human voice sound in there too.Let's hope that the monster isn't just a black column of smoke.
That in no way shape or form sounded like the old Godzilla roar. The Godzilla roar has a more metallic sound to it. This has a deeper "hollow" almost tubular sound.

Look, that is not Godzilla's roar. I've grown up watching Godzilla and know the sound he makes perfectly...unfortunately. That roar confirms to me that this is not another stupid US Godzilla movie - thank goodness!

If anyone one saw the american godzilla movie which I saw just a couple nights ago again the scientist dude said that if one of the baby godzilla's escaped from Madison Square garden it could have mutated into something new. At the end of that movie they reveal one egg which was destroyed and it hatched and ended the movie. If that godzilla had been mutated just like the guy predicted it wouldnt sound the same as the old one. I have also been doing research on the movie and have found out that its supposed to be a giant raptor like animal and when its scales fall off from shelling it creates smaller versions. I hope it is Godzilla though there is lots of rumors that it isn't.
It isn't Godzilla, thankfully, and this movie should be better and darker because of it. It's an alien with some Cthulhu-like influences, so it should be awesome.
That roar is fantastic! I opened it at work, and continued working all the while ignoring the window while I was working. Then the roar came and scared the crap out of me. I LOVE IT. :D I grew up with Godzilla, so I'll always have a soft spot for him, but whether this is Godzilla, Cthulu, or the StayPuft Marshmallow man, I really don't care, I'm due for a giant monster movie fix!!!
I think it is interesting that the preview has the head of the statue of liberty flying through the city like that, considering that the statue is sitting on a mini island in the middle of WATER. So wouldn't that mean that somehow the monster or whatever traveled through water to get to mainland??
I wonder what the writing on the back of the pictures mean? Doesn't give up much. This movie better be as good as the "hype".

On that picture with the three friends, if you flip it over in the corner it says Lascano, Platt and Hud, and signed by Jamie. If you go to Myspace and search for Jamie Lascano, she has a page, along with Rob Hawking, Platt and Hud.
I keep playing it and knowing its not Godzilla or Cthulhu monster, it left me clueless.
However, it also creeps me out every single time, which is gooooood, its scary becaouse (i may be crazy) but it has some "Humanity" in it that its completly disturbing...

I've heard through a close source to this project that it will end up being a giant, black turtle, with a long tail that looks like a centipede, with a mouth on it.
Also, this monster is supposed to be so big that it can cause title waves with its tail. That's all I know.

On the 1-18-08.com website you can flip the photos over. I did this bye accident. Just click and hold on an edge, pull in edges direction and do a quick shift in the opposite direction to flip it over. There are 2 photos with messages on back, but nothing significant.

OK peeps, this may be a good guess, but what if it is a godzilla movie? They show the start of the movie with people running and the city being distroyed. What if godzilla just has not made into the movie yet and it may be another monster that trashes the city??????

If you view source on the 1-18-08.com page, you will notice that the background color of the page is set to #161616. Why not just use #000000? I know there were theories abound about what the creature is, and one of them is that it is Satan. The color choice feeds into the 666 theory.
seriously. this "movie" is so intriguing. i'll leave with this tidbit of info that i saw no one else pointed out. here it goes:
it IS NOT a godzilla movie. for sure. it's not Godzilla, 'cause nobody's allowed to make another Godzilla movie until 2014(the rights are reserved until then).
Since the Slusho site is connected to the movie...there are alot of references to a whale...so perhaps it's a mutated whale...sounds stupid, but that's my call.
As much as it's weird, I'm liking the whale-type thing theory, or something like it. I don't have the means, but I'd be interested to hear the first roar (and the website roar) with effects on it making it sound like it's underwater. I'm thinking it will sound EXACTLY like a humpback whale.

re my comment, it may be that the writing refers to a recipe as the cook is showing something to eat and he looks like he is shouting something like "and here is my latest culinary creation" or similar?

It's gotta be a whale dudes. The clues are everywhere. Listen to the roar. It's like a whale grunt (if the whale in question had both a sore throat and stepped on a large nail). Then there are all the numerous whale clues and references on the SLUSHO! website, and the picture of the whale at the top-left corner of the TAGRUATO website. My money's on mutant whale.

A lot of you people kill me. It was already CONFIRMED many, MANY moons ago by JJ, that it is NOT A GODZILLA MOVIE OR A REMAKE OF AN EXISTING MOVIE. It's just a movie, sheesh. Yes, I'm curious too about it but once the damn thing comes out and you see it, you're going to look back and wonder why you wasted so much time trying to figure this all out.

arTHE MONSTER 'ROAR' from CLOVERFIELD ... is quite simply WHALE SONG ... slowed down. It sounds like HUMPBACK.
In fact, if anyone has a DVD of STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME -- give a listen to the whales.
Or -- easier yet, do a GOOGLE for WHALE SONG.

I think that this movie is getting the hype the producers want. If people keep talking about it and blogging about clues and pictures and puzzles, the film is going to be very successful. If you think this is cool and you tell somebody and then they inturn tell 7 people about it, and its as easy as connecting to the internet to read about all of this and check out the videos and pictures, everybody will want to see it just because they want to know whats going on. Even if the movie sucked they will make double digit millions within the first 3 days guaranteed. This gives people something to look forward to which is what people want. I am excited to see this movie and cannot wait to find out what it is all about. If more movies did this I would always have something to look forward to, I dont see many trailers that intrigue me as much as this has. This makes me want to write out some books that could be converted into movie scripts using ideas that people would love to see put up on the big screen.
Hasn't anyone noticed the woman half way through the trailer who explodes? Watch the new trailer and slow it down just after a Dr. looking guy says turn off the camera. Two people in Hazmat suits are holding a woman behind plastic. For a split second you see her as thin and then she expands before the camera cuts out. Something to do with Slusho? What about the seen when they are in the tunnels and hear something. Obviously too tight for the sea monster.
On cloverfieldmovie.com look at the trailer. At the part where the missle shoots from the shoulder fired rocket launcher and the soldiers and tank(s?) are firing in the supposed direction where the monster is, the camera will fling to see that direction. It is not even one second long, but you can see (I think) the back or spine of the monster moving to the right. I don't know if it's rubble, but it sure looks a bit scale-like.

im telling u, go to the slusho site and read everything. this is a new monster no godzilla crap. this monster is entirely new for sure. me and my friend did some research from the site and im pretty sure this monster is a cross between a whale creature and a crab. if you go to that slusho web site, you'll gather that from the origin story. theres a big empahsis on "not being able to drink just six," of the slusho drinks. with looking at the last available page on the site, theres an email there that may be real or, but go to the actual site and you'll go to this site about coporation that makes slusho and do all these projects with giving animals slusho. i think this may be connected with the monster sumhow....
Someone said that they think the movie is about Godzilla's infamous son, Zilla, who appeared in the last couple minutes of the last Godzilla film. I thought this idea was preposterous until I read the "History" page of slusho.jp. To sum it up, the history of Slusho is about a misunderstood kid who dies in a dramatic accident, but not before having an also-misunderstood science-freak baby boy. Sounds like Zilla.
Zilla, Godzilla's mutated son, was supposed to be in an egg in NYC according to the last US Godzilla remake. There used to be an image of an egg on ethanhaaswasright.com. COINCIDENCE?!
SOMETHING NEW... THREE PICS NOW HAVE WRITING
On the http://www.1-18-08.com/ site there are a bunch of pictures. THREE have writing on the back(not two... this may be new). To flip over the pictures, grab them and move the mouse back and forth quickly.
The picture with the japanese cook is clearly out of place. It is not taken at the party. Also it does not have a time stamp in the lower right corner. If you flip over the picture of the Japanese chef you will find a bunch of writing in what looks like Japanese. I cannot cut and paste the language into a translator because of the formating. Does anybody speak japanese?
you want my opinion? i don't think the movie is going to be about a monster. take "the village" as an example, when it was marketed, we thought it was a horror flick about things in the woods. it built up excitement and a small bit of fear from the viewing audience, to only let us leave the theater in pissed off moods.
personally, i think its the same scheme. i think it's just only about a group of people and how the y react and connect while trying to survive. i dont think this movie is just going to be one of those, im an average joe blow and i save the world types.

At first glance it looks like just more billowing smoke from the destruction, but you can faintly see some writing and patchwork construction of a large Orb. Possibly the head of a Mechanical Construct Weapon, gone awry?
I agree with laurenrenegade. I think there is going to be a lot of teasing in the movie but never a clear view of the beast. They'll probably show it at the very end. If this is so I'll be one unhappy camper.

Alright soooooo, what I've gathered from looking around other blogs is that the japanese writing on the back of the cook's picture is (whaddya know) a RECIPE. I don't know the exacts but someone has it fully translated online. Beautiful.

I know the truth. The monster is the city itself. when they say "its alive" theye mean the city.and in theye trailer it says the video fotage was found were central park used to be. so i bet theye find it in the water were it used to be. and in the picture were the statue of libertys head is gone you can see were the waves are and thats were the tail from the city comes up and nocks it off and goes back in.

If you go to 1-18-08.com and click a picture and shake it around a bit it flips over. Two of the pictures have english messages from a girl named jaimie the one with the chef on it however is all japanese.. cant understand it.
I have gone to see the movie a couple of times and this is just a theory but has anyone entertained the idea of more than one monster in the movie? The reason I ask is that the monster at the end seemed smaller and almost looked nothing like the monster that pulverized manhattan. Another thing is the bridge scene when the tentacle destroyed the bridge....the monster in Manhattan didnt have any "visislbe" tentacles. Lastly the statue of liberty sits in the water....so the monster went to Manahttan and then got back in the water to destroy the bridge then back out to keep destroying manhattan? Just some observations and totally loved the movie

well...as far as i know..it aint godzilla...if u look properly...u will noe the parasit...is actually a spider...and that thing is like a lizard with a head like frog(before hud was killed u could see the monster properly...and u noe it NOT A GODZILLA!!)well...it a pretty interesting monster....hehe...
